This week Pastor David from the Kinyamaseke Blessed Orphanage in Uganda will be preaching at Robinson Memorial (RMPC). RMPC has supported the village of Kinyamaseke for many years and last summer a group of youth and adults visited the village to work on one of several homes the congregation has financed and to help plant shade and firewood trees. During this visit some of our youth met people with whom they had been corresponding since young childhood.
During the service, the Elmwood Church will present Pastor David with a series of banners to take home for his church building in Uganda. These banners celebrate the Great Ends of the Church and were made by the Elmwood Quilting Group. Also, the Mission Committee voted to donate $1000 to the Orphanage in Kasese. This is Pastor David’s church orphanage.
The RMPC congregation collects used sheets (for mosquito protection), clothing, eyeglasses and many other items which make a difference in the village’s subsistence life. They have built homes, planted orchards, sent emergency money for medical treatment, and repaired buildings. They also have supported education in the village through the local school and many, many scholarships toward higher education. One of the young men supported in education is now a judge.
