3/21/10 HAVE A LITTLE FAITH by Mitch Albom 272 pages
The author has given us a true story of the power of faith, as we meet two of his mentors. The story will remind us to seek and recognize how God works in our lives. Those of us, who were born into faith, have lost faith, or are searching for faith will find this a powerful story of finding faith with others and something greater than ourselves.
5/2/10 ANIMAL, VEGETABLE, MIRACLE by Barbara Kingsolver 270 pages
A great inspirational read that would educate and perhaps inspire you to follow her path. We hear a mother narrate, with humor her struggles in her one- year adventure, with her family of four, in eating only locally grown food. You will find it a pleasure to read.
6/13/10 THE HELP by Kathryn Stockett 464 pages
The Help takes place in the rural south of the 1960’s. The author has given the reader a compelling and comically touching story of the intertwined lives of three women on opposite sides of the racial divide that existed at that time. The characters lives and struggles will stay with you long after you finish reading.
8/8/10 THE LAST ORACLE by James Rollins 434 pages
This master storyteller will keep the reader involved and entertained through this historical mystery with well-defined characters, surprising intrigue, and intricate weaving of sub plots. A perfect escape novel, an edge of your seat read with a mix of history, science and adventure.
9/26/10 LIGHT ON SNOW by Anita Shreve 300 pages
Light on Snow is a haunting story about the decisions we make and the consequences they make on others and us. The story is told through a wise first person voice of a woman looking back on an extra ordinary experience that happened when she was twelve years old. The reader will be engrossed with, not only the story, but also the very real and compelling characters.
11/14/10 HOME FOR CHRISTMAS by Andrew Greeley 192 pages
The author has given us an inspiring holiday novel. It is a love story full of wit and full of faith. You will follow four themes; a romantic love story, near death experiences, the author defines God as all love and mercy with a great sense of humor, the fourth theme illustrates a wonderful picture of heaven.
1/16/11 WHO STOLE MY CHURCH by Gordon MacDonald 273 pages
Gordon MacDonald has given us a fictional cast of characters who discuss where the church has been, is now, and the direction it should go in the future. This is a challenging approach to a difficult subject. The author will help us to see the larger picture. You will find this book very enlightening and thought provoking in light of your own experiences.
