Uganda Update

Uganda has recently suffered great drought and famine.  Many thanks to friends and members of Robinson Elmwood Church for the monetary donations that purchased food to save people from starvation.  The need continues.  Donations of any amount can be made through the Robinson Elmwood Church website.   These pictures show the thankful beneficiaries receiving maize flour and beans to feed their families.

Our new name

Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church and Elmwood Presbyterian Church have been living and worshiping together as one congregation for nearly three years – and have been working actively over the past year to make us legally one.  Both congregations voted unanimously on January 31, 2017 to unite.  In the process of asking the NYS Supreme Court to make us one new legal congregation, we discovered the need for a few minor revisions to the wording of our plan for uniting.  On Sunday, July 23, 2017, both congregations again voted unanimously to unite using the revised terminology.  We also took this opportunity to rethink what our new name shall be and decided that the previously approved name was just too long.  Although we will be legally two congregations with separate financial accounts until January 1, 2018, we are so excited about our new name that we wanted it to appear on our website and Facebook page now:    Robinson Elmwood United Church

Please note that any checks must, until January 1, still be written to either Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church or Elmwood Presbyterian Church.  Thank you!

Blessings in a Backpack

This is a national campaign to assist with feeding needy children on the weekends during the school year. The Mission Committee signed on to partner with Bellevue Heights Methodist Church to support an additional 30 children for 3 years. That is a three year commitment of $9,000. There has been a great deal of enthusiasm from the congregation to support this program. ~450 students attend Delaware school and many are needy. Volunteers from BHMC pack the backpacks weekly and are looking for more assistance to support additional students. $100.00 will feed a student on weekends for a year. Robinson has already sent a check to the Backpacks national program to help feed 30 additional children, which began January 20th. A group of folks from the congregation has already been helping to prepare the food packs at Bellevue Heights.
If you would like to donate to this worthy cause, leave an envelope in your pew at church labeled Blessings in a Backpack or click on the on-line donations button. Thank you!
